21/05/08 10:25

The early summer's show at the Leslie-Lohman gallery in Wooster st in NY is titled Pink & Bent, and runs from mai 21th to June 28th. The exhibition is a group show of queer woman from around the world. Quoth the Leslie-Lohman press release:
"The goal of this art show is to present audiences with an artistic experience that depicts the many threads that sew us together as a community. It is extremely important to note that the term "community" references a group of individuals who share many common characteristics, but come from different backgrounds and are each beautiful and powerful in their own unique way. Pink & Bent hopes to enlighten audiences about the different aspects of being a queer woman within the context of artistic expression and freedom. We look to art with the goal of defining terms such as "queer" through the mediums of photography, painting, and sculpture to describe visually what is too complicated to define through the confines and perimeters of language. Pink & Bent explores topics of masculine/feminine, gender roles, self-identity, and self-representation by depicting ourselves, friends, and lovers. We seek to celebrate the diversity and visibility of queer women artists."
