Maybe not gay art per se, but the new production of Gluck’s Armida at the Komische Oper in Berlin is certainly of a homoerotic interest. With 70 totally naked men on stage surrounding the female singer in a beautiful and dreamlike scenography, Calixto Bieto keeps securing his name as opera direction’s bad boy. The production gets a mix of shocked and enthusiastic reviews - if you’re in Berlin this spring it would probably be worth your while to check it out.
