Dreamlike in their quality, Bill Travis' photographs of male nudes, gay couples and haunting cityscapes seem to bridge the gap between painting and photography. Sculptural close-ups of the naked male form or portraits of friends sleeping are all been given a painterly surface finish, giving the images a similarity to 19th century art photography. The gallery is not so large as to make the viewer tire of the admittedly related images. As it is the Bill Travis Photography site is a welcome respite from the main stream of gay photography sites, and well worth a visit.
I rate the gallery five stars out of 6.
